Frequently asked questions

How much should I risk on one Bitcoin trade?

Most traders risk 0.5%-2% of the account per trade. With a $1,000 account that is $5-$20 of accepted loss: the calculator turns that number plus your BTC stop distance into the exact contract size and required margin.

How do I size a Bitcoin short?

Set entry and stop-loss the same way as for a long — the trade is inverted. The risk amount is (stop - entry) x size, and the margin is the position value divided by leverage, with the liquidation price above the entry.

What is the 1% risk rule for Bitcoin?

Risk at most 1% of your account on one BTC trade: on a $2,000 account that is $20 of accepted loss. The calculator turns that $20 plus your stop distance into size and margin, so even 10 losses in a row cost under 10% of the account.
